Digital Playground contract star Jesse Jane has been named the host of the 2006 AVN Awards Show on Jan. 7 in Las Vegas.

The 23rd annual ceremony that recognizes the best in adult entertainment will be held at the Venetian Hotel Grand Ballroom.

“It’s such a big opportunity,” Jesse Jane said Tuesday. “I’m going on my third year in adult and to be asked to host the AVN Awards is amazing, unexpected. … It’s an honor to represent the whole industry. I’m so happy I don’t even know what to say.”

She added, “It’s just a fun show. It rewards everybody in the business.”

The former regional training coordinator for Hooters now stars in feature films such as the upcoming Digital Playground/Adam & Eve co-production Pirates that is set for release in September.

AVN Awards producer Gary Miller said that Jesse Jane’s stage presence caught his eye.

“I liked her enthusiasm,” he said. “She already gets the idea that it’s a fun, exciting night.”

Lawyers for Pamela Anderson are trying to prevent Metro Studios from releasing a potential commercial blockbuster hardcore disc starring the blonde beauty and then-boyfriend Bret Michaels, lead singer for hair band Poison.

Attorneys for the international sex symbol fired off a cease and desist letter to Metro on Friday, demanding the studio not release the 87-minute Pamela Anderson Uncensored, arguing that Anderson “never consented to your commercial use or exploitation of the Pamela Anderson Video, nor did our client consent to your use of her name or likeness for these as well as advertising and promotional purposes.”

“Your unauthorized display and sales of these products and commercial use of our client’s copyrighted work and likeness infringes our client’s exclusive rights in numerous ways, including, but not limited to, common law and statutory copyright infringement,” wrote Anderson attorney Henry W. Holmes, of the Santa Monica, Calif. branch of Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

Metro had no immediate comment.

Anderson’s attorneys also are demanding that Metro turn over to them the footage that forms the basis of Pamela Anderson Uncensored, all copies of the disc and all related promotional materials by next Monday. Failure to do so will be considered willful copyright infringement and will result in litigation and potential “enhanced statutory damages,” Holmes stated.

Metro had been planning to release Pamela Anderson Uncensored on Sept. 7. The footage shot in the 1980s previously has been available on the Internet and was the subject of litigation, but Metro said last week that it had obtained all the necessary legal clearances.

Metro had very high expectations for the commercial potential of Pamela Anderson Uncensored, considering that a similar hardcore release featuring Anderson and former husband, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, Pam and Tommy Lee: Hardcore and Uncensored from S&D Video/IEG, is one of the biggest adult sellers of all time.

Pulse Pictures has announced the signing of gonzo director Bryan Xin to an exclusive multi-year agreement.

Xin has already produced and directed his first title for Pulse, the ass-themed Cheek Freaks, scheduled for release in September.

DNA, the fledgling company owned by Extreme Associates 2.0 sales manager Dennis D., has made a deal for European distribution with A2Z Services of Krefield, Germany, a firm run by Helen Cline.

The deal was set up by industry veteran Chuck Zane, who also handles foreign sales for Extreme and Evolution Erotica.

“It’s great,” Dennis D. told AVN.com. “Chuck does a really good job. I’m looking to do more foreign deals. I’ve already got Canada and Israel and I’m working on Australia.”

DNA has been in existence only since May, with 13 titles so far, releasing at the rate of one a week. Most recent are Not Milk and Team Players 2. Each movie is all anal, and each has a “clean” (i.e. non-nude) cover.

“We’ve been very successful,” D. said. “Domestic sales couldn’t be better. Everybody’s supporting us. We just released our first all-black movie, Dark Meat, with India on the cover.”

DNA’s deal with A2Z also includes European distribution of D.’s Underworld Entertainment and its horde of bondage titles directed by the late Bruce Seven, recently acquired from Pleasure Productions.

The first one, according to D., will ship in about three weeks. “We revamped the Bruce Seven logo,” he said. “It will be the first bondage line with foil covers.”
