Jenna Jameson

A recent story reported that Jenna Jameson will lend her voice to an animated series produced by Viacom’s Comedy Central that will be delivered to mobile phone users, the network said on Wednesday.

The Reuters story reported that the show, called “Samurai Love God,” is the first original animated mobile video series from Comedy Central, a unit owned by Viacom Inc., and will also star “The Daily Show” correspondent Ed Helms.

The series has eight two-and-a-half minute episodes, and will premiere this quarter across three cellular carriers, Verizon, Sprint Nextel and Amp’d. It will be available to all subscribers of the carriers’ standard video service.

The story went on to say that “Samurai Love God” follows Comedy Central’s launch of its broadband video clip service, MotherLoad, which includes original content and is already available on mobile phones.

The network has plans to roll out other original shows, it said.

“Even though it’s still really early with just 2 percent of the market with videophones to watch, these services are very important to the operators and content providers. But consumers are still not aware of them though young people are starting to take them up,” Linda Barrabee, analyst at Yankee Group, told Reuters.

The story concluded by saying that Viacom Chief Executive Officer Tom Freston, in a presentation to investors earlier this month, emphasized the growing importance of digital content to the future of the company.

“It’s about scale and distribution. Outside our own properties we need to make sure we are accessible everywhere to consumers – beyond our own destinations, which presents a huge upside,” Freston had said.

Director David Lord leaves American Hardcore

David Lord

Director David Lord has confirmed that he has left American Hardcore.

“I felt my future was elsewhere and now I’m looking for a good company to be behind me to make my ideas come to life,” Lord said without elaborating.

Lord had shot just two videos for the company, last year’s Sack the Wet Back, and the newly-released Titty Babies.

“We wish him the best of luck and we hope that he’s happy at whatever he does,” said T.J. DiReda, who along with Vic Thomas, co-owns American Hardcore.

“I’ve been in the adult industry my entire adult life, having started out as a salesman at Western Visuals and then working on the production side at Private USA, so I know things change,” said Lord, who has won five AVN awards in his career.

He now hopes to continue his work which landed him an AVN award last month for Best Vignette Release with Vault of Whores, he said. That title followed up his Buttman Comics Presents: Tales from the Crack, which also won an AVN Award in the same category in 2005.

Lord, also known as David Crawford, has worked at Evil Angel, and at Wicked Pictures where he helped develop some of the company’s gonzo lines.

“It’s a giant chess game out there. A lot of guys moving around,” he said, referring to a number of directors such as former American Hardcore shooter Martin Del Toro, who is now exclusive with Red Light District, and Jules Jordan, who left Evil Angel to form his own company.

Lord is known for his quirky Sack the Wet Back, where he made his American Hardcore directorial debut. The film was notorious for its nude box cover plastered on the side of a building along Sunset Boulevard last year, earning the company a fine from city officials for placing the ad without a permit.

Jenna Jameson

Blogs posted by adult star Jenna Jameson and her husband, director Justin Sterling, are in the top 10 of the most popular 54 million “peeps” by visitors to MySpace.com.

Jameson’s blog (www.myspace.com/jennajameson) is reportedly often ranked No. 1 on MySpace.com. This past week, Jameson’s blog was the fifth most popular destination among 54 million “peeps,” while her husband’s new blog, I Married a Porn Star (www.myspace.com/soimarriedapornstar ), came in ninth.

The daily postings from director/performer Sterling (aka Jay G) reveal details of his daily life with Jenna, including life occurrences and his latest rant on sorting through 22 different shampoos in their shower and the general insanity of celebrity life.

In her blog, Jameson talks about everything from sex in her movies to her allergies. A post this past weekend began: “Of course I could talk about my shmoozing with Naomi Campbell and kissy facing with Max Azria or causing a riot with Janice Dickenson during Fashion Week, but let me just talk about my consistent battle with my psycho allergies.”

Jesse Jane is the ‘All American Girl’

Jesse Jane

Digital Playground contract performer Jesse Jane is back after her successful Pirates release with Jesse Jane: All American Girl on Feb. 23.

The title, directed by Celeste, features the petite blonde as a coed who comes of age at tony prep school.

“It’s a kind of coming-of-age story where she becomes empowered and gets popularity through the art of seduction,” said Digital Playground spokeswoman Adella.

“It’s also a playful movie about education and the power of seduction.”

Jane highlights the video with four of the movie’s eight sex scenes, including an intense boy/girl scene and an outdoor girl-girl scene with Karlie Montana. Also featured are Celeste Star, Valerie Vasquez, Nadia and Carli Banks.

Jane, who received the 2006 AVN Award for Best All-Girl Sex Scene, recently returned from a weekend tour of the Pacific Northwest, promoting Pirates.

“It was great to see so many fans come out,” Adella said. “There were lines around the block and copies of Pirates were completely sold out.”

Eon McKai signs exclusive deal with Vivid

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006

Vivid

Director Eon McKai has signed an exclusive deal with Vivid Entertainment Group, and will start a new label with the company called Vivid-Alt that reflects his unique brand of adult content.

McKai is credited with helping to spearhead the alt-porn movement that has staked a place in the adult industry in the past year. He got his start in November 2004 with VCA Pictures.

“I just really want to see the alt-thing happen, and at first I thought, ‘no way could I ever go to Vivid.’ It seemed like such a big brand and they would never be interested. But the more meetings I took, I saw how they were interested, and how far they would go to support [alt-porn] and give it a chance,” McKai told AVN.com. “They are going to give me the chance to take things in more of an alt-direction, and that’s what made me decide to bring it over here. The sheer amount of support and creative control I’m going to have is greater than it was before.”

McKai’s deal entails him directing four “big-budget” features this year and producing eight other features by up-and-coming alt-porn directors – all for Eon McKai Productions and Vivid-Alt.

“This guy is great and he’ll tap us directly into this exciting new trend in the adult movie industry,” said Vivid co-founder Steven Hirsch. “Eon will find the first actress to give a fresh, new face to the imprint. He’ll also be looking for all sorts of alternative and progressive talent and programming to keep us at the top of this genre. I can’t wait to see his first work.”

McKai, who has a master’s degree from the California Institute of the Arts and has taught filmmaking, said the first directors he would be tapping for Vivid-Alt productions are photographers Octavio Arizala, aka Winkytiki, and Dave Naz.

Winkytiki is a fetish photographer who has a book coming out and Naz has published three coffee table books (“Lust Circus,” “Panties” and “Legs”) and has had his work featured in art galleries worldwide.

“I really want to take what alt has started to become, and take those parentheses that are alt and push them really far to the right and really far to the left,” McKai said. “On the web, alt-porn has a much more diverse, eclectic voice. But on video, it’s just been us – Rob Rotten, Joanna Angel and me.”

He continued, “This is kind of a dream job. I was always at VCA knocking on their door to get so-and-so to make a movie. But over here, that’s my job.”

McKai revealed that his first project for Vivid-Alt would be called Girls Lie, which would be along the lines of mainstream films such as Over the Edge and River’s Edge.

“It’s a movie that’s kind of about that time,” McKai said. “You’re an adult, but you don’t really have your own place to have sex. You’re running wild in the street, finding different places. You’re a really young adult and you still have a lot of time on your hands. It seems like the kind of place that the youth that are buying my films are at.”

McKai said the terms of his Vivid contract include him being able to use his own production team.

“I’ll be slowly bringing my people over,” he said, noting that he’d be working closely with Suicide Girls photographer Lithium Picnic, among others.

The 26-year-old debuted in adult with Art School Sluts, and followed that with three volumes of Kill Girl Kill before releasing the critically acclaimed Neu Wave Hookers, which is currently No. 1 on AVN’s Top 25 Weekly Rentals and Sales Chart.

“It’s been a pretty quick ride,” McKai admitted. “When I came in there was no one really from the alt-world from the web, except for Rob. I’m really close with Rob Rotten, and he was telling me the other night, ‘Thank God you guys are here.’ It gives him context.”

McKai said response has been almost overwhelming for Neu Wave Hookers.

“It’s crazy. It’s the first movie I’ve made where I’m getting emails every day. I put so much of myself into that movie,” he continued.

McKai indicated he would continue to do mainstream work; he just finished directing a music video for Bedroom Walls, and previously shot a video for the band Louis XIV.

He said leaving VCA recently was “really heartbreaking.”

“I really loved being at VCA, I think VCA has a rich history. It took some time, but VCA really got it,” McKai said. “They took risks with me. That’s where I cut my teeth, where I found my voice. Peter Reynolds [director of sales and marketing], he was the first person who sold alt. He was the first guy who made the distributors understand what this product was because everything was happening on the Internet.

“It was really hard to go, but I feel like I have to take this chance. It’s good for alt, and by producing stuff for other people, I have the opportunity to expand what alt is. Joanna and I really wanted to stay together [at VCA], but we’re just going to work for both sides, and it’s exciting to have two big companies in the alt game. It will help alt have some staying power that maybe some other movements in porn haven’t had.”

Lisa Ann leaves La Direct Models

Lisa Ann

Lisa Ann, who has been working for LA Direct Models since last September, has decided to leave her title of agent behind for now and return to what she loves best, performing.

“Working as an agent at LA Direct Models has been extremely exciting.
When I first came to meet Derek, I had no intention of shooting or getting back in the business, I actually held out for four months until I was asked to shoot a boy girl for Suze Randall. We booked it and I loved it!”
explained Lisa Ann. “After a couple of weeks of Derek’s tenacity about putting up some of the pictures from the shoot on the LA Direct site, we did and I knew then, that I would no longer be able to resist the temptation of shooting or feature dancing once again.”

Lisa Ann was right, last week at Rouge she danced for the first time in over a year and performed to an awestruck audience. Her solo act combined showmanship, grace, style and experience that you just don’t see that often and is why demand for her performances in front of the camera are flourishing.

LA Direct owner Derek Hay responded to the departure by saying, “Lisa Ann has been a wonderful breath of fresh air at LA Direct and we are sorry to see her go, but since I persuaded her to relocate to Studio City, I guess we will still be seeing her pretty often.”

The sexy superstar will continue to be represented by the top talent agency and looks forward to getting back to her roots as a performer in front of the camera and on stage.

Hay, who is delighted to continue working as Lisa Ann’s agent said, “We have been blown away at the response and demand out there for Lisa Ann and fully understand why Lisa wants to take full advantage of that demand and move back into acting full time for a while.”

Lisa Ann points out “I had a wonderful opportunity with Derek Hay and everyone at the office, but I can no longer look out the window and wonder what I am missing. I will be at the office whenever I can to bring coffees and laughs, but I will again be able to focus on my life as Lisa Ann, cut back on the extra responsibility and have some fun. I do believe I owe a lot to Derek for reminding me I still have it, and also for teaching me what hard work really is! I am just not ready for all that work yet when I can still play! I would like to thank everyone at LA Direct Models for their warm welcome and continued friendships.”

Robert Moran will take over for Lisa Ann and Derek is thrilled to have him on board. “We have been training Robert since he joined the company approximately two months ago to eventually move into an agent role at Direct and thought this comes somewhat sooner than we expected, we welcome him to move upwards and he is excited at the challenges this promotion will bring.”

Dave Pounder signs Distribution Deal

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006

Daydream Productions have entered into an exclusive DVD distribution agreement with Dane Productions. “I’ve worked with Ed Cohen in the past and have always found him to be very reliable and trustworthy,” said Pounder. “When our distributor went out of business, we immediately thought of Dane to fill our distribution needs.” Pounder’s titles were formerly distributed by Lava Releasing.

Boink seals deal with Time Warner

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006

Boink

Alecia Oleyourryk, the founder and editor-in-chief of Boink Magazine, has confirmed that a publishing agreement has been reached between her publication and Warner Books, a division of media giant Time Warner, Inc.

As reported in Publishers Marketplace in late January, the deal, which includes an undisclosed six-figure advance, grants Warner the worldwide rights to publish a book based on the controversial college magazine.

Boink was launched in February 2005 by a group of Boston area undergrads, led by Oleyourryk, who was then a senior at Boston University’s College of Communications. As the first student run publication in the country to call itself porn, Boink set off a wave of controversy that attracted the attention of major media outlets worldwide. Through a series of appearances on local and national broadcasts including CNN, MTV and fellow BU COM alum, Howard Stern’s Show, Oleyourryk defended Boink and its place in the lives of her fellow college students.

Promoted as “The College Guide to Carnal Knowledge,” Boink is a lifestyle magazine dealing openly with sexual themes that are relevant to college-aged men and women. It features graphic stories, prescriptive advice, and confessions from fellow GenXYers. However, much of the media attention has been focused on Boink’s inclusion of naked pictures of real male and female students, in a variety of sexual situations including straight, gay and bi-sexual.

Soon after it was announced, uproar from a number of students, parents and alumni prompted Boston University’s Dean of Students, Kenneth Elmore, to issue a statement saying, “The University does not endorse, nor welcome, the prospective publication Boink.”

Despite significant opposition, the fledgling publication has been steadily gaining momentum. Boink will soon release an interactive on-line edition, which Oleyourryk predicts will substantially increase the magazine’s reach.

Oleyourryk also points to the Time Warner agreement as further proof of her magazine’s

legitimacy. “A book deal with one of the world’s top publishing houses is just another indication that Boink is more than a passing fad,” she said.

Her new publisher shares her enthusiasm. Ben Greenberg, acquiring editor at Warner Books said, “We [at Warner] are thrilled to have it on our list. Boink represents a unique and edgy concept that we expect will appeal to many of those who dare to explore it. We look forward to exposing it to a large audience.”

Boink: The Book is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2007 as a full-color, oversized trade paperback. Much like the magazine, the book will be made up of contributions from actual college students. Submissions will be solicited through a contest open to students on campuses nationwide. Written fiction, non-fiction, illustrations and photographs will all be welcome. The most interesting contributions as judged by Boink’s editors will also receive a portion of the $25,000 sponsored prize pool.

Tiana Lynn leaves the scene

Tuesday, February 14th, 2006

Tiana Lynn

Elegant Angel contract girl Tiana Lynn today announced her retirement from the porn business. Or the sex-on-screen end of it, anyway.

Lynn has been an integral part of Elegant for nearly two years, said a press release from the company, beginning in the office then moving into production management and public relations. She also headed its VOD sales department, increasing revenues of that division substantially, and has now taken on the post of national sales manager.

Lynn’s decision to retire from performing was based entirely on her fervent belief in the quality of the company’s product and the passion she’s discovered she has for selling it.

“You have to believe in it,” she said, “because the people are buying you. You want the truth, real females having real orgasms, I’ll sell it to you! I love making movies, but sales has turned me on and I’m going for it!”
